Results
The collaboration between Mondi and Proquimia resulted in the successful launch of a paper-based alternative to plastic packaging. This new solution significantly lowers CO₂ emissions from cradle to gate and is fully recyclable in Spain and Portugal.

Proquimia faced the challenge of needing a sustainable packaging solution for their dishwashing tablets. The primary objective was to reduce CO₂ emissions and ensure recyclability, all while maintaining the high standards of quality that their customers and end users expected.
The Solution
Mondi and Proquimia collaborated to introduce paper-based stand-up pouches made from Mondi's re/cycle FunctionalBarrier Paper 95/5. These pouches, which hold 20 water-soluble dishwashing tablets, are made of over 85% paper, including the zipper, and can be disposed of in local paper recycling streams. The Results

The new packaging is fully recyclable in Spain and Portugal, and internal assessments by Mondi confirm the positive environmental impact. Key metrics include a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions, over 85% paper content in the pouches including the zipper, and full recyclability in local paper recycling streams.
